Default Brake Disks for Triumph TT600 / Daytona

The Wife's bike needs new brake disks due to worn bobbins... sourced a set off ebay and the bobbins are worse than the set she has...

So I want a brand new set... suspect dealer prices are OTT!

Any recommendations... I dont want to spend silly money as she doesnt hammer them and OE were more than good enough!

I've just bought a set from Blackshadow UK for my ZX9R - EBC were nearly £200 per side and I got both front, rear and front brake pads all delivered for a few pennies over £200.

They look like high qaulity stuff, and they're British, don'tcherknow!

Well worth a look but I think he's away for another week or two at the moment...:

    Was this an MOT fail?

Change your MOT place. Triumph disks of that era had loads of rotational float from new. Mine did (and still do).
It's been covered on here and on www.triumphtorque.com

    Yep ... MOT fail...

They rattle like buggery and the MOT station insists they need replacing

Cheers dude... doesnt look like they do Triumph disks though!

Apparently Stealth Racing Products will do all three disks for £200 as well which is miles better than £175+VAT EACH the main dealer wants!

I'm sure someone on here (? Zanx) had a bad experience of Stealth discs.

    Me.

First the Triumph discs, they all rattle like fuck. Go to a Triumph showroom and the discs on brand new bikes would fail an MOT. I replaced mine with Galfers.

The issue I had with Stealth discs, and EBC as well, is their wet weather performance, there isn't any. Apply the brake and it won't work, fuck, start pumping the lever, double fuck. After several seconds it will bite a little bit, then a bit more but never anywhere near enough. They are lethal. If you've ever ridden a 70's Jap bike in the rain you'll have an idea of how bad discs can be, these are worse. It's no good saying you don't ride in the rain, what happens if you're miles from home and get caught in a downpour?

I've tried a lot of different discs over the years and don't run anything except OE. I made an exception with the Triumph as the OE ones are fucked from the factory. I can highly recommend Galfers. As the saying goes "buy cheap, buy twice".

The only reason for replacing these disks is due to MOT failure despite them having only done 17k miles from new.

I bought a used set from ebay that had done 8k miles for £70 ... they are worse than the one she has...

Yet the MOT station says its a fail...

I've offered to take it to another MOT station but she says its a safety issue so wants it sorting properly.

I was just looking at EBC disks as well...

Motorbike disks are so fooking expensive its a joke...

Seriously, do some research on t'interweb. ALL Triumph disks of that era have an unusually large amount of float. It's NOT a safety issue, it's by design. Change your MOT station - it's much cheaper than new disks!

There's a pair of brand new ebc's on ebay at the moment -
triumph tt600 speed four daytona 600 650 ebc front disc on eBay (end time 14-Mar-10 14:26:44 GMT)

I've got a pair of oe discs in the garage but one is slightly warped so they're probably useless to you.

(I've only ever heard bad things about stealth, either poor product or terrible service)

These guys are excellent and will have either new or secondhand discs available.

Might be worth giving these guys a call EBC Brakes 4u Master Supplier for EBC brakes and Goodridge Brake Lines as they're having a clearout of brake discs at the moment.
