That's fair enough and I don't go around calling people "yellow" anyway, I'm just wondering what point things are regarded as offensive.
I know I'm not actually white in colour, its just handy term for it that I'm not in the least bit bothered about. Its more me just wondering where the boundary is nowadays really.
Its weird to read books written by people like Mark Twain and compare where the boundary for acceptable language was then compared to now.

It's a difficult line to follow. What you and I may deem as ok, others might be highly offended. The trick, is to respect their wishes, and understand that they're offended. How we react after that, comes down to our own characters and boundaries of respect.
The blatantly racist things are obvious though, it's the 'fine lines' as you mentioned, that are harder to judge these days.

Re: What will our little yellow friends think of next?
To my mind, it's all in the delivery (which is much easier to interpret in the verbal form as oppossed to written which can make the most innocent of statements seem out of context / offensive)
Take the term paki for example (opens can of worms
). To my mind, it is an accepted abbreviation of Pakistani in the same way as we use Scot or Aussie. The fact that it has been adopted by racist groups do not, in turn, make the term Paki offensive.
FWIW, I see nothing wrong with the use of black, brown or white as descriptive terms. Yellow, I accept, blurs the boundaries slightly but is still a (vaguely) accurate description of the skin tone.

It depends on the situation.
I know someone who called someone a black cunt.
He was, no suprise, put on a hearing for being racist.
He said he wasn't being racist. There was a Fat cunt, and regular white cunt there too, he was just making sure the black fella knew he was shouting at him
I can see his point.

I remember members / leaders of the local ethnic Pakistani community saying they found the term 'Paki' offensive and didn't like its use when the Pak1 clothing brand came out. It offends some people, ergo it's offensive.
I never used to say it at all but after the Price Harry incident Radio Four was all: "Paki, paki, paki, paki", for about two days so maybe I'm overly cautious.

Not sure I subscribe to that train of thought
I find the term 'biker' to be cringeworthy - hence it offends me to be called a biker. But that doesn't make it offensive?

The term Asian can cover both yellow, and brown, so it's a bit too vague really.

I guess it depends how many people something has to offend to make it offensive. I suspect it's one which is slightly ridiculous but if you look the word up in a dictionary that's what the definition suggests.

I wonder how they get around the restrictions on towing with a bike because a car certainly wouldn't come within the permitted size of trailer.
Back to the derail.
