Hello there, Could owners or ex owners point me to the right direction. I am trying to figure out if a Daytona would be right for me. My riding is made of weekend fun, a little commuting and I also need something that will hapily tour! Are they reliable, comfy-ish and able to bogey when required. I will compare it against a first or second gen R1 and 929 'Blade. I'd love to hear your experiences as I quite like the styling and the idea of a Triple. Thanks for your help ladies and gents |

I had a 2004 model for three years. Excellent bike. It was comfortable on long runs and lots of fun. It will do the tour/scratch/commute thing no bother and mine was 100% reliable. Loads on the differences between models in this thread: Tell me about the Triumph Daytona 955i The earlier T595 models are arguably better looking but the later you go the quicker and better sorted they are. In terms of outright performance on the track they don't measure up to a 929Blade or the second generation R1 but as a road bike they'll hang on to them just fine and they've a character about them thats lacking with a Jap inline four. |

I had a 1999 955i for around a year. A fantastic bike on the open road. Deceptively fast. Very pretty (first generation 595/955 shape which is the best looking of all the Daytonas IMHO). Great sound, and quite linear power delivery. Quite heavy, and carrying the weight pretty high, made it easy to drop at slow speed, for me anyway. Also has a poor lock (family characteristic I think) these factors and the longish reach to the bars (something that is apparently better on later models) made town work quite difficult. I commuted into town on mine, and it was great on the motorway, but hard work for the town bit. |
