AGV visors (again)

I wanted to bin my AGV within a week of using it. I'll take comfort & useability over safety features any day thanks....

Same here. If you ride every day in all conditions there's no way you can ride without wiping your visor with your glove. I did this for years with a Shoe XR900 and it took that long for any slight ill effects.

I had my AGV Stealth for maybe as long as 9 months before it looked exactly like the OP's pic.

Other than the odd wipe with my glove I take very good care of my visors, but the AGV one is shite.

Incidentally, I also use a tinted visor which I'm pretty sure is made by AGV and that's at least as good as the Shoei ones.

I have onboard helmet cam footage of night and day using both visors plus being used in the rain. It's shocking with the standard visor.

It's exactly the same stamp as in the pic, too.

I've been using AGV helmets for a number of years now and haven't had any problems at all with the visors.

I've only used AGV helmets (since they fit my head best) and never had problems with visors scratching. I only use genuine AGV stamped as such...

I polish the visor with a waxy polish and a polyester type cloth. When riding in the rain I turn my head slightly and rain runs off.

Simple

Funny how the range of experience is so wide.

I suspect it's to do with the price range of the AGV in question? I know the GP tech has a brand new design of visor, maybe they've upped their game on that front.

I used to be BlessMyCG, long ago in a dark place.

I have a TiTech and it's by far the most superior comfort quality and incredibly damn good lid i've ever owned.
No problems with any part of it.

Weeksy can you check later on what your clear one has stamped on the visor? ie 'AGV' or 'iMAG' cheers. (The genuine mirrored one I bought is stamped AGV funnily enough).

I might fire off a letter to AGV to see if they'll bung me a new visor.

Or the fact that these problem ones are IMAG.

Never had any problems with the AGV visor I got in 2001, even with winter crud or rain. In fact, I'm still using it (on a newer helmet, obviously) when I need to wear a clear one.

Yet the visor which came with my newer AGV a couple of years ago was scratched to buggery within weeks - hence my using the old one.

Perhaps they don't make them like they used to.

Um, I do.

I am pretty sure that I can count with the fingers of 1 hand, the amount of rides I've had in any given year where it's been that bad that I was forced to wipe the visor with my glove. (ok, yes that means I'll do it, but tbh I'd rather stop and clean the visor properly than use my glove).

Mind you - I tend to clean (with kitchen roll & water) and polish (with furniture polish, Pledge for preference) the visor daily to ensure it's always able to bead up rain water.

Looks like they tried to save few £ with crappy cheap IMAG visors, then?

And the Stealth lids go for around £200 in most places, so not whilst not a top-of-the-range helmet they're not exactly a budget helmet either.

Here's pretty much what I see at night in the rain. I got caught out a few nights ago and decided that my fully tinted visor actually gives me better vision at night...

I don't polish it like I probably should, but then I'll always use a tinted visor if at all possible, so my clear one has hardly been used in comparison.

Some weather conditions like freezing fog and snow make it impossible to not wipe your visor. I'm hoping to get some cam footage of it this Winter!

I actually had ice build up on the INSIDE of the visor last winter - the moisture captured by the (daily application of ) Bob Heath anti mist froze over!

I've recently bought a vee wipe, which seems to do a bloody good job of wiping away the rain/spray without damaging the visor - although it's probably too early to tell the long term effects of it yet.

Has to be better that using the back of yer glove though!
