next time, use dowty washers, they take a lot less force to get a seal, and they are reuseable. They are available from RS, or some bearing outfits, and any place that does hydraulics. 1/8th BSP is the size you want.

Next time?

This is a 2000 R1 which still had its OE hoses and pads. There won't be a next time

In 10 years time, I'll be putting the original parts back on as it'll be a classic

Being a bit of a cheapskate and dedicated recycler, I heat up the copperwashers to soften them, flatten them with emery and use them again.

Screwd.

I was talking to Druid about the replacement crush washer for the sump plug, he does the same thing, anneals the copper sump plug washer before re-using.

Copper washers were included in the HEL kit, so no need to be a cheapskate today

Well, I have just taken the bike out for a bit of a run, town, country, dual carriageways, and the brakes are a world apart from their previous performance.

Rock hard, as someone else commented, less 'feel' but I am sure that will come back when I get used to them.

It is a shame we didn't photograph the process to make it easier for others in the future, heyho, I'm sure the info is out in the internet somewhere.

Thanks for all of the tips and help everyone.
