Can anyone recommend a good inflater? I'd be happy with a foot pump but whenever I see one it only ever seems to go up to 100psi. That wouldn't even inflate my push bike tyres sufficiently, never mind the tyres on the motorbike (which need to get up to 136 on the rear). I'm not sure what cars that would be of any use for either for that matter. Most electronic inflaters seem to rely on a connection to a cigarette lighter. Needless to say that wasn't an option on my bike when I bought it. |

I don't think your motorbike tyres need 136psi! Typical big motorbike pressures are 42psi rear, 36psi front. A 100psi footpump is plenty. |

136psi would very likely blow the tyre off the rim.

| You may take the p*ss my friend, but these are the tyres I have on my road bike. Look at recommended inflation on the spec table. Continental Cycle Tyres UK I'm not totally thick (just 50% thick) |

I got this recently: http://www.akautospares.co.uk/products.php?product=BlackSpur-{47}-Rolson-12v-Jump-Start-Air-Compressor Handy having a jumpstarter as well as a tyre inflator in one ![]() I use it pretty regularly for bike, car & mtb tyres, and have used the jumpstarter to wake up the RR after the alarm drained the battery too. I can't remember where I ordered it from though - maybe Amazon (not the place in the link anyway)

| I think I was subconsciously assuming that because the motorbike was bigger and heavier than the push bike that the tyre pressures would necessarily be inflated to a higher pressure. Hence I was adding 100 of psi in my head to the actual figures I remembered! I have to inflate the bloody pushbike tyres all the time as if they drop below 90psi I'm guaranteed to get a pinch puncture because the roads round here are so sh*t. Ahem ... it does show how often I check the tyres pressures on the motorbike though (slap on the wrist expected). Hopefully that is and remains the most embarrassing post I will ever log on here. |

![]() When fitting certain tyres I've put well over 100psi in to get the buggers seated on the bead. Of course I've never forgot to let all that air back out again, nope never done that. You can get those mini-compressors with crocodile clips to clamp straight on to battery terminals rather than cig lighter sockets. I got mine from the local petrol staion for a fiver thinking it would soon break but it works a treat and I carry it on the bike in my tailpack.
