Looks nice enough - I like the DRO, wish I had one on my lathe. My next lathe will definitely have one. I'm sure someone will say "bigger is better" on this lathe. Really depends on what you want to do with it. edit: the DRO looks to be for the tacho only |

Well, thats the thing, it will only ever be used to knock up wheel spacers and the like, well, all the stuff you use a lathe for, but not in any kind of heavy fashion.....

It is a microscopically small lathe. You'll only be able to turn tiny objects. All of the value and use will depend on your ability to re-engineer it i.e. set it up as per the instructions on your enclosed link. As supplied you will only be able to turn small randomly shaped cones. For the same money you could invest in a nice little Myford ML7. Twice the size, three times heavier, about as accurate as a lathe can get once setup. They are also (subjectively) much nicer to handle. Everything is cast or machined, you won't find any self tappers holding on bits of tin. Oh and over time, it will appreciate in value... You might even use it once in a while to turn the odd job! Screwd. |
