Default GARMIN Zumo 660 GPS mounts and power cables

Just bought a sat nav (zumo 660) and wondered if you wonderful people know of a good (preferably lockable or removable mount) that would work for a blade and another for a zed thou. (tho the one it came with may work on the zed)

Also the power cable that comes in the box has all manner of trickery on it, and I was wondering if you can just get a basic power cable from battery to mount (will use bluetooth rather than audio etc)

as you can tell, i don't have much idea...had a quick look on Touratech but not much zumo 660 stuff...

thanking you in advance...

You didn't look too closely.
Touratech UK Webshop

Couple of lockable mounts (one with vibration damping, one without at a guess). NOT cheap tho.

AFAIK touratech are pretty much the only ones that do lockable mounts.
Tbh I have never seen the need. I just take my 550 off the bike if I am leaving it for more than a few seconds.

There's these, but they aren't amazingly secure:
Garmin Zumo 400 450 500 550 GPS RAM Mount Security Lock on eBay (end time 03-Jan-10 18:28:34 GMT)

I'm not sure what the score is on the 660, but on the 550 there is a fiddly little "security" screw which holds the clamp in place to stop it rattling open.
I have replaced that with one of these:
migsel.com - Zümo Security Screw (Powered by CubeCart)
which means rather than being really fiddly but ultimately insecure from theft it is now dead easy to undo and remove from the bike in a second...

I am planning on using Ram mount with custom parts for my various bikes to mount an aquabox.

Hopefully, if the little red card from the postie is for the right parcel I shall be fitting on Saturday, well assuming, which is a big assumption, the parcel doesn't get lost on its way back to the sorting office.

Google Telferizer for the concept

Thanks Adam, what we were after was a system where you can remove the cradle, base plate and arm when we're not using it but leave the power cable connected up and cable tied to the bars.

Doesn't look like you can do it, just didn't fancy leaving the cradle and arm fitted when it's not in use.

Like I said mate, mines permanently attached and it hasn't been an issue.
(Even the lockable ones aren't totally thief proof, they just make things a bit trickier.)
You should be able do exactly as you want tho as the power cable isn't hard wired to the cradle (least not on the 550) so simply undo the ram arm, unplug the cable from the cradle and job jobbed.

....from a brief look last night it looks like the power cable is hard wired to the bike cradle on the 660, but not on the car cradle, but we can't use the car cradle as its power cable requires a 'cigarette lighter' type power socket (and it probably isn't waterproof).

All depends on where you have them and your intent I suppose.

Yes granted they can be removed if you're storing the bike for a bit, but they ain't exactly easy to swap out mid ride, so whilst not hard wired as it were they don't just plug in and out.

They can.
Simply remove the screws and don't replace them.
The screws are only there to prevent it vibrating loose when no GPS is fitted (and IMO are belt and braces anyhow). The ZUMO will hold the lead in place when fitted and if you are removing the cradle AND the zumo then the screws are redundant, so the lead WILL simply plug in and out.

Either way, they STILL aren't hard wired in, which was the only point being made.
