Want a "decent" DAB/FM tuner to replace my ageing Denon analogue. This any good?

Cambridge Audio AZUR 640T V2 Black | DAB/FM Tuner | Richer Sounds

Any pitfalls? Got an external (roof mounted) ariel so that should be OK?

The connection leads to the amp - seem to remember when I bought the separates I upgraded to pretty good quality leads. Anything to be aware of with digital?

£200, ouch. Why would anyone buy an expensive DAB radio when it's presumably cheaper to buy an internet-enabled radio/device? Millions more digital stations to choose from.

i paid around £350 for my DAB tuner when they first came out.

do they do a standard 14" separate wifi internet radio tuner that will fit in with a hifi system?

problem is if your ISP goes down and you lose connection you lose the radio. i've never had a DAB outage in 9 years.

Our DAB radio only picks up Planet Rock and Radio 4. And even then, not very well in bad weather. And not at all when anyone opens the fridge door. Or uses the microwave.

I'd rather have more stations even at the risk of occasional downtime, to be honest.

Dunno. Not seen any.

Like you say, you lose your ISP, you lose your radio.

I already listen to internet radio on the laptop with headphones. I gave Spotify a good bashing last night. Dunno how the quality compares to DAB. I know DAB has a lot of criticism re bit-rate but I wouldn't have thought that internet was any better? Plus if you have internet radio on all the time, you'll soon be over your monthly fair-useage allowance? (I'm on 20gb with Plusnet).

Just want a DAB/FM tuner to slot into my separates system really. Richers sell another one - Cambridge Audio again, DAB+/FM/AM for £250.

Cambridge Audio AZUR 650T Black | DAB+/FM/AM Tuner | Richer Sounds

Can't work out whether DAB+ is going to be the "standard" in the future. It enables M4p quality I think. Countries that are only now starting with DAB are going straight to DAB+ it seems and missing out the standard "DAB"......

I've got a Pure DAB in the bedroom. It picks up "everything" as far as I can tell.........

Edit: have a look at this re DAB+ http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/20...ch_to_dab+.php .

seems that DAB+ is the future standard... and is backward compatible, while DAB won't receive DAB+ - so getting DAB+ is future proofing.

Have to say, this aspect of DAB is a cock-up and, IMHO, it was inevitable from the beginning... they should have made codecs and FEC soft-codeable from the start.

Same here, funnily enough.

If it had have been any two other stations, the thing would have gone in the bin a long time ago though, so yeah - not a total disaster, I suppose.

What? Think you must have me confused with someone else, fella. We're only about 20 miles from the centre of the capital of England.

Well, OK, not since the 11th century if you're going to notpick, but still... sprawling metropolis here, so it is. Largest grass airfield in Europe over that hill there, look.

Impressed yet, are ya? No? Well over THAT hill, there's the tallest spire in the UK on the godsquad's discrete little clubhouse. Are you chuckling?

Cheeky bastard... look - look - look over that way, look.... biggest stone circle / sundial / hippy magnet in the history of stone circle / sundial / hippy magnets, that is!

I dunno - seems there's just no impressing some folk.... we've even got a KFC and everything! Buttfuck nowhere, indeed.....
