password cracker for windows home vista

hi, folks A mate needs to get some stuff off a laptop but doesn't know the password is there an easy way to do it ...

    hi, folks

    A mate needs to get some stuff off a laptop but doesn't know the password

    is there an easy way to do it without taking the hard drive out?

    There is a way where you log into the bios and bugger about at DOS level with the password file.

    I'll try to dig a bit deeper

    It's not going to be much easier than whipping out the disk, is it?

    thirty seconds with a screwdriver? easy peasy!

    Or Get a little linux distro on a flash disk, and boot from that.

    Just had to do something like that a weekend. First time I've used linux in anger, handy to say the least.

    Taking the hard drive out may not help as many laptops come with Vista Ultimate which has hard drive encryption included.

    To answer the question I have no idea, sorry.
