No, you can get another but hey are quite expensive, think ebay might be your best bet.

Quick replies there chaps thanks. The crack is on the inside as I can't actually feel the crack on the screen. If they can be replaced does it need a computer wizard to do it?

Did it with an LCD monior which was quite easy but not a laptop, cant imagine it would be to hard.

Re: Computer advice on spares
Laptops can be fiddly bastards to take apart without breaking delicate little plastic clips and whatnot.
Acer ones aren't usually too bad, but it's been a while since I've had one apart.... as they get smaller and more compact they usually get harder to work on.
Given that it's already mullered, why not take it apart to see if it can be done without breaking anything else before actually buying the replacement screen...

As long as you've got a good collection of hammers in the 2.5 ball pein to 20lb sledge range, then I'm sure you'll be fine.

Dells are quite easy and you can usually find instructions on their web site. if you're lucky Acer will be just as easy and you'll be able to browse to or search for the info you need on their web site.

Re: Computer advice on spares
my Acer has 5 screws hidden under rubber bungs holding the surround onto the screen, haven't looked too closely to see where the connectors are for the cables though

Re: Computer advice on spares
I've done it on my Toshiba after someone dropped a heavy bag on my laptop bag. There are a couple of different generic types of screen, so you will need to remove the screen and check which one it is - there's a label on the back of the screen. It's really not that hard to do, see here and here.

It may be worth checking to see if it's still under warranty. Most lappys come with a 3yr Return To Base warranty now.
