Default Video editing software

What I'm looking for:-

Some software that allows me to import AVI files and use multitrack video editing.
Ideally editing together 2 video streams and a single audio stream. Editable to a specific frame.
Some basic video effects (transistions/negatives/colour filters etc)
Ability to add titles/credits.
I need MPEG2 for DVD and/or AVI encoding.
I don't want it to scan VSTs on startup like Ulead Media Studio did. - I have hundreds in my audio studio and it takes forever.
Ideally I's also like DD 5.1 surround sound possibilities although most of the audio editing will be done in Sonar using its surround facility but it should be able to encode DD5.1.
I'd like it to be HD compatible as I intend upgrading the camcorder to HD soon - thus WMV-HD compatible.
CHEAP! [sub £100]

I did have a copy of Ulead Media Studio pro but it wasn't mine and the licence holder took it back off me.

I can't afford the full Ulead Media Studio pro suite.[£194!!]

If I ever get this boring shoot me:

vegas is £300, premier pro is five or six. piratebay is free.

and isn't scanning VSTs on startup something you can disable through config?

I only want to spend £100 tops.

Also I don't want Sony anywhere near my PC if I can help it.

less than a ton? you're getting into Windows Movie Maker territory there if you're after new software. just buy a license off ebay?

if it's not a blatant pirate copy, this mught be the sort of thing you could use...

it doesn't work. at present i think you can use v2 to create a slideshow.

open source is the emperor's new software clothes, and caveat emptor applies doubly when you're not paying anything.

Buy Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus (VS115PLIEPC) :: eCostSoftware.com - UK Software Supplier

How does this compare to the full MediaStudioPro Suite?

Assuming you don't have access to a Mac..? Final Cut Express is around £100.

I have just checked the specs and read the box in pc world and it would seem they are!
However
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli...1&tabview=tab0
is £70 in PC world!!!

7 video tracks
+ Dolby 5.1 audio encoding

I think I might buy that on the way home tonight while my video editing head is on.
If anyone wants to know what I'm doing check my YouTube account TheRealTwigman
however the vid that's there right now is an unedited sample while I sussed out how to use YouTube.
I have 2 angles of footage from that gig which I plan to edit together and I as yet haven't attempted to 'tidy' up the audio.
