I cannot reccoment my Shure E2C's highly enough. I had real trouble finding earphones that were comfy inside a helmet, and these little buds ar fab. They act as earplugs as well, so no other noise comes in. App £35 to £50 depending on where you get them. Not easy to find in shops, so online is best.

You can start one if you like. Get yourself a social group for it, if you get 10 members then you can make your own forum proper. Gotta be better than complaining

+1 - that's what I use.
They are passive noise cancelling - they act as ear plugs so cancel out any external noise. I like this as it means the volume coming out the headphones is very low (doesn't have to compete with however many decibels of background noise) so will damage hearing less.
There are other 'active' systems that use a microphone and phase cancellation to reduce noise. I prefer the passive systems - less to go wrong, plus generally cheaper.

Re: Headphone recommendation
My current ones are passive but I find airplane noise too intrusive. The ones I used recently were active and were soooo much better.

Re: Headphone recommendation
I have a set of LiveWires . I couldn't get Shure's to fit my ear as I have a small ear canal. The livewires fit perfectly as you would expect for a set of customs, sound great and fairly cheap considering it's a professional piece of equipment.
When I put these on I go into my own world, can hear next to nothing of the outside world.
