Thankfully my quick reactions saved this idiot from being seriously hurt both physically and then financially for the repairs to my car. But as I know the usual way things go its always the car driver at fault I am glad I own an incar video that is always recording.
Now the quality of the video is low but its better than this guys survival instincts but would like to know what the general biker population think about this one:
looking at that picture we are approaching from Mannington Lane (White/blue car) he has pulled all the way over into the left lane which is only for turning left onto the great western way (heading north) - I am in the lane next to him which is able to filter left in the inside lane heading up the great western or directly over. He thought he should just go straight on and its only thanks to brakes and reaction he didnt get clipped.
Obviously I feel he is 100% at fault here but expect comments to the opposite for its always the car drivers fault. Also its incidents like this which make me glad I bought a roadhawk
Biker at fault, you were in the right lane and he ignored the cross hatching and cut across you forcing you to take evading action. It's pretty clear.
The biggest arses on the roads are bikers (and annoying gits on sccoters), nearly every close call I have is with a biker, moreso in summer when the FWB's come out to play.
The bike would have had to very deliberately pull over to the left lane right at the junction, as that left lane is a bus-lane almost all the way up to the junction, and is even seperated from the other lane by a concrete divider (you can see it's tail at the left of the picture and just make it out in the video).
It didn't look like he indicated at any point, so I would say he either wasn't sure where he was going, or changed his mind at the last minute, as both roads can take you to the same places.
I'd say poor obs on his side and well done to you for avoiding him.
Trouble is this happens a lot to me from both cars and bikes, so should be half expected, especially as he wasn't indicating.
Bike looks like a GSXR K3/K4 1000? (I don't have one BTW )
Clank the full video shows the guy riding sensibly and within the limit so he wasnt dicking about. Confused? Not sure, the manningon lane where he came from he joined just at the link which would indicate coming up from sparcells side and then headed off into old town so likely knows the route.
I should be congratulated for not killing him tbh. Zanx you are right, as the stats show 1% of road users are bikers but they are in over 20% of ksi's its just ever so often its the car driver whos at fault. Its incidents like this which proves that having an in car video is priceless. The full video shows GPS location (to the correct lane!!), overlays real time to a google map and has gps speed recording.
You want us to say that the bike was at fault? Yes, he was, obviously. He either was incredibly unobservant, or assumed that he would be way ahead of anyone he had seen by the time he wanted to pull right.
How fast were you going onto the roundabout? Is the video realtime, or slowed down? Why is there shite music playing?
You want congratulating on your video toy? Nope. It may well record incidents, but it's of no use whatsoever in a legal situation. (afaik)
Also, the video is very unclear, it doesn't show you taking avoiding action, all I can see is a bike pulling towards you, then seeing you and pulling left.
Just after any prospect of a collision is over, you beep your horn.
As others have said difficult without seeing signs and road markings. Seems like the biker either didn't know the area and presumed he was in the right lane or he thought he'd be able to out accelerate everyone.
Poor obs on his part I'd say, but again if he did not know the area easy mistake to make.
I'm sure that much like you, I sounded my Noddy Horn just as a 'WAKE THE FUCK UP TO TIT-RAG!!!' at the driver/rider after the incident, rather than as any method of improving my situation.

It is unusual for a biker to be that sloppy but I have cars do that to me most days, often right into my lane. I have long given up getting upset about it, I leave a wide gap which gives me time to react.
Car to car it is usually just scuffs so doesn't get into any stats except the ones insurance companies must keep. Get nudged into oncoming traffic and you are likely to be a KSI.
At a junction like that I would be watching all ways to see where traffic is coming from, I would not just be relying on the road markings. From the information you have given it does not seem clear as to how well signed the left hand lane was, he could have quite innocently thought he was in the right lane, to me it just looks like an innocent misjudgement. It is all road users' responsibility to look out for each other, well done for doing that.
It's been a long time since I looked at the rules and usage of roundabout lanes, but I don't recall that on such a roundabout the left-hand lane would be for turning at the first exit only. Armed with that wobbly piece of unproven knowledge, I'd say you're in the wrong: you try to change lanes while there is someone where you want to go (and did you have your indicator?). Plus the fact that the biker did not have his indicator should have told you to watch out: bikers tend to be a tad more deliberate about its use, or non-use, than car drivers.
