Default Collision avoidance training

Someone somewhere was asking about why they could not do 'extreme' manoeuvring training - in the style of the Japanese cop video. I can't find the thread now, but I said I thought I knew a training school that might have the bikes and ability to offer it.

Remembered to ask him last night - and they can and do.

He calls it Collision Avoidance training. Done in groups, large off road area, using their bikes (and yours). You have to sign a disclaimer similar to the sort you do when you go on a track day (along the lines of 'I know what I'm letting myself in for and can't sue your arse off if I hurt myself or bend my bike'). Costs £60 per person, will be run when there are enough interested (eight people IIIRC) and takes the best part of a day.

Contact Gordon - details from here although the course is not listed on their website yet Anyone would think the school has been busy the last few months...!

Good stuff. Will drop him a line later.

I've been talking to someone who recently did this course with him and the feedback was extremely positive. An added beauty being that a lot of it was carried out on Gordon's school bikes with engine bars, etc so the risk of binning your loved one (two-wheeled loved one) is negated.

I've just received a letter from the organiser and I'm agreeing some financial support for his next two courses. From the letter he's looking to charge a bit more than £60 per head but if our support can help to bring the cost down and encourage people to take part then I'm happy.

If it's the photo of a bunch of us delivering the DVDs I'm near the front to the right, sitting on the black and white Triumph (due to the number of people wearing hi-vis they had to take the photo in black and white).

I missed the original thread and the Japanese police video - do you know if it was on youtube? (I'll have a look, but figure I might as well ask whilst I'm here).

Sounds very interesting, something I'd like to have a go at.

Having some second hand experience of Japanese motorcycle cops what they can do on a track bears little relation to their ability on a road

No it wasn't bloody well posted in SA.

I did a post recently on the way they're trained - it explains 'why'.

Damned if I can find it, though . . .

I think there are a couple of holes in hedges in Herts that go some way to explaining it

Ta, I thought it might be something like that. That kind of stuff brings back memories of my training day with Horse.
