Could somebody do me the favour of posting the picture of the bike obscured by the car behind it, where both vehicles have their headlights on, please?
IIRC, it's a naked bike with a Land Rover behind it, in an urban setting. I think I remember somebody posting it in VD's "Survival Skills" and perhaps here a number of times, but I can't find it.
Thank you.

No probs, hope it being used to show people that 'using headlights' in daylight is not always a good idea.

I just skimmed a page of the debate... that was enough.

So, what you're saying is that if you're approaching a junction and have a car behind you with its headlights on, you should switch yours off? How would that help, as the car waiting to pull out would still see two lights and wait, especially if the car behind you was a big 4x4...
Advanced training tells you to move slightly side to side so you're breaking the waiting driver's line of vision. Obviously, if you have your lights on, it's even more obvious.

You shouldn't have it on in daylight in the first place.

Like with most modern bikes, you cannot switch them off. And, again, the advanced recommendation is to have them on even if you could.
So, you can have your
back.

Sweeping statement...
Certainly not my recommendation.

Actually, you need to be even more aware then usual that the driver ahead may miss seeing you, and react accordingly.

My advanced training doesn't, I recommend the 'Z Line' when appropriate, varied to suit the circumstances.
If bikes with lights on are so 'obvious', how come SMIDSY crashes still happen at the same rate as when no bikes had them (like back when 'advanced' riding was invented
).

My 'advanced' recommendation isn't.
