Default The new "Burlesque Night" thread.

Except it's not a night at a burlesque night club any more, but rather a night out at a burlesque and cabaret show in London's west end - to be preceded with a meal somewhere, chased up with a beverage or two, and then to the land of nod.

So please read all the following and vote accordingly before spending hard-earned. I would really hate it to be a group of 3 or 4 disappointed people expecting a dozen more because nobody was sure what they were doing.

So, this is the venue:
La Clique London - Home

A night of magic, dance, tumbling acrobatics, comedy, sword swallowing, cigar-stubbing, trapeze, contortionists, burlesque, and such.
Boys, think Ursula Martinez and Yulia Pikhtina. Girls think David O'Mer.

Proposed date and time:

Sat 31st Jan 2009 - 10:30pm

Price £29.50
(This is for seats on 'the floor' - if people would rather agree to £37.50 for posh seats with table service - or cheaper options that are available then it needs deciding before people book so we still end up a group, not just people happening to attend the same show)

No discount for a group booking since I have no fixed numbers and can't stump up for tickets myself up front, unfortunately.

I have found plenty of hotels with space in that London for around £50-60 (that's per room, not per person), and some of them reasonable looking.
For example, Kings Hotel on Queensborough Terrace, Bayswater (perpendicular to Kensington Gardens) a mere 3 miles from the show, and nearby bars. £40 a single en-suite, £50 a double, £55 a treble, £60 a quad and so on. Other options for varying wallets are available - Late Rooms-Cheap Hotels, Discount Hotels & Last Minute Hotel Deals. Make Hotel Reservations & Book Hotels with Hotel Offers.

Suggest budgeting £30 per person on tickets.
Suggest budgeting £55 for a room, which can be split if people bring partners or want to share.
Suggest budgeting £30 per head for drinkies.
Suggest budgeting £25 per head for din-dins.
Suggest budgeting £10 per head for shared taxis hither and thither.

So approx £110-135 per head for a jolly old knees up in that London for those in hotels, and about £85 for those crashing at FA's or lucky enough to be local(ish).
Not super-cheap, but should be just after pay-day for most, to cover drinks, taxis etc.
(Plus costs getting there).

So, who's going and who's not?

Please choose the options most suited for you, and please discuss who prefers what so a concensus can be reached - and preferably agree over a few days, not several weeks.

NB - You will be responsible for booking yourself, and suggest particularly with hotels it's done sooner for cheaper rates.
Would suggest for booking show tickets that people who book early share seat details with the rest of us so we can get seated together or as close as possible to retain a group-night feel (the beauty of booking early).

It'll be close to the show's closing night, so it will still sell out reasonably quickly despite the fact it's not for months.

FA, can you confirm you're definitely good for that date and how many you want to take in (i.e. without making life hard on yourself) ?
I've assumed if booking 2 or more people you're taking a hotel, but please clarify if not.
If you're local, please clarify.

Also, please feed back if you're a maybe when you should be able to decide.

And if you've never had any intention of going, think it sounds crap, or are bringing other negative comments for no apparent reason, please jog on and find some billy goats to bother.

im in ur monitrz, lickin ur screenz.

Yep can't see any reason why we can't be available on that date - will obviously make arrangements for the little girl to be looked after nearer the time.

As for mine, well anyone who's been here knows that we can squeeze in quite a number...I'll let people know when we're starting to burst and running out of bed/airbed/sofa/floorspace

Just a note for those that do want to come to ours, either last train is 0130 from Liverpool street, but I'm guessing that will be too early, so a shared cab will come out about £55-60 total (so shared isn't too bad). Mind you, I depending on numbers I might just stay sober for the night and bring the Cleggbus

Now, thing is...do I sign up just for me or for Metz as well

Have voted, just me - hotel, as I want to spend a few days in the big smoke and make it into a wee holiday and its unfair to impose myself on FA for that long The plans sound good though. Have to rush to work but will be back to sort out details anon.

I'm a definite maybe- but I think I'll be able to stay with a friend in town rather than needing a hotel.

Would anyone else be interested in going to Ladyluck/Madam Jojo's/similar after the show, assuming timings work out?

I'm an 'Other'

Would like to do the show and maybe dinner, but can't run to the extras unless I've got a job by then.

Give me a shout when you Need to Know by and I'll confirm yay or nay

Don't tell me I can't!

Would it be more do-able if you were to share someone's car down, stay with FA, and accept the occasional drink from strangers?
Perhaps someone can help with the getting there bit?

Other. I'll need to confirm nearer the time. I'm trying to decide wether a hotel is the way forward, or going home, in which case I've got floorspace for one or two.

Six definite, two maybe, two other (to date).

If I've got spare cash I'll book my seat next midweek and report the table/seat location so others can book too. I imagine that this core will pad out over the coming weeks once it's clear people are going
