Hmmmmm...pretty mediocre IMHO Sound like an TV advert for one of them 'Mens products' A bit disjointed trying to fuse the last album with bits of Aphex Twin whilst trying to recapture the feel from Jilted Generation.... 4/10 Must try harder |

I don't see it like that at all, nor do I find it always useful to pigeon-hole a track based on previous work.Whilst AONO was a disappointment, it was a different sound entirely to that found on earlier releases. This track might be by the same artist, but is almost non-comparable with the hardened non-flowing edge of somethig like Spitfire or pretty much anything by Aphex Twin. IMD has more of a "dancy" feel last experienced on...well, Experience (which remains their best work to date imo) and because of that it appeals to me. If by flowing that makes it more accessable to our now de-sensitised dance-music ears (and therefore more 'commercial') then so be it. I welcome this retrospective step forward, and look forward to blaring it out of my speakers. 8/10 |

| <Doctor Who geek mode> Micky! </Doctor Who geek mode> Hmmm. My first listem makes me think it lacks depth. But I do love the Prodigy, so fingers crossed for it being a grower/the rest of the album being better. |

Yeah Penduluim was the other comparison I was gonna make... ...as far as the Aphex ireference goes.....you can't say the stacatto'd interjections in the 1st verse (IIRC) aren't a direct influence of something found on many Rephlex or Warp labeled albums...that's what I was elduing to. I still maintain that this track doesn't flow very well it sounds like lots of bits cobbled together without much in the way of 'dovetailing' the sections. It basically sounds to me like he's used Reason again but this time tried to use sampled live sounds (as well as MIDI) in place of AONO purely electronic vibe. |
