Reading this week's MCN I see that there is a new scoring system for BSB and it goes like this:

Everything is as before points wise until the final 3 rounds (7 races) when the top 6 riders will have their points wiped out and be given 500 points plus points for each podium they have achieved (3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd). The rest of the riders will keep their current amount. The points for the final seven races will then be awarded as normal.

The idea, it seems, is to provide an exciting end to the season where all the top 6 riders points are essentially reset and they have to start from scratch and battle for the whole of the final 7 races.

Only the top 6 can win the BSB championship. The rest of the riders will be competing for the BSB cup. I assume the Evo cup and Privateer cup will also still be awarded too.

Also qualifying only applies to race 1. Race 2 positions are decided by race 1 best lap times.

What say you to this idea? A brilliant way to spice up racing or an overly complicated mess?

It sort of looks good, but at the end, we'll have 4 champions.

"Title Fighters". Jesus H. Tittyfucking Christ.

Also qualifying only applies to race 1. Race 2 positions are decided by race 1 best lap times.

This could be unfair if you are knocked off in the first lap.

And then will you be sent to the back of grid, or just to 6th place ?

I like the idea of the qualifying postions coming from race 1, fair enough those who get knocked off on the first lap are going to suffer, but for the rest it is a case of their best single race lap determining grid position, sounds fair to me.

I quite like the new points scoring method as well. Having a bit of a shootout at the end of the season is a cracking idea. Why keep things the same just because that is the way it has always been? Let the fun and games commence!

Spot on. Now ive read it a few times it will make for some very interesting racing!. Of course no one likes change but this could actually work very well and prevent the racing becomming stale and "safe" towards the end of the season. Maybe Motogp need to take a look

Last year Camier was odds on to win from about the half way point and he didn't seem to play it safe until the season was over.
