Thumbs up Rossi to take on Bayliss

Seen an awful lot about this over the last day or so...but according to various sources (VD, MCN yes I know...amoungst others) the report emerged from an interview given by Rossi to an Italian sports newspaper.

In a nutshell: Rossi says he'd like to race Bayliss in a one off round of WSB.

Tardotzi quoted as saying 'Bayliss is up for it'

Carter: Rossi to challenge Bayliss? - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Rossi misquoted, Rossi stirring a good story that aint gonna happen, press making it up (or misconstruing a throw away comment to say something it wasn't meant to suggest).

I'm sure every fan would want to see it....but do you really think it will happen?

I don't reckon it will......I'd love to be proved wrong though

Written by Tony Carter.

Still, if it were true, would be good. Sort of a Charity Shield of bike racing.

As to who'd win, I'd bet on Bayliss after the way he trounced the MotoGP field when he rode the Ducati at Valencia in 2006.

Yes I know the link I put up was by Tony Carter but a fair few other sites have this same story....doesn't look as though Crash has picked up on it yet......perhaps due to a healthy dose of scepticism??

Now if youre talking about a Champions League approach....that would be something ...the top 3 from all FIM premier divisions ie.

Rossi, Stoner, Pedrobot, Bayliss, Haga, Phillipaerts etc etc

I would even supply the Thermos full of tea and the Penguins......if Rossi wants coffee he can 'Do one' or bring his own....bloody overpaid Primadonnas

I think Vale is too busy working out how to stay on top of Casey next year and trying very hard to prevent Toseland getting on a decent bike as well....

What COULD happen, and I think it really could if the movers and shakers got behind it, is to bring a few bike events to the little happenings in Wembley Stadium with the F1, Rally, WTC champs and "aces".
Imagine, Rossi, Capirossi, Corser, Bayliss, Byrne, Toseland, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and so on creating national 'teams' and ocmpeting Super-Moto style around the tight twisty indoor arena. Some of them may even try their hands in the cars too.
A Rossi vs Hamilton face-off in a WRC Focus around a tight track would rake the spectators in.

Ya, get a major TV network to finance it and have a sort of derived "Superbikers" race or series. The Superbikers series is what spawned Super Motard in the 70's in N.America. Guys like Lawson and Schwantz raced it because they're racers. Give bastids like that a wheel barrow and if they're contract says it's ok, they'll race it. Problem is now, too many insurance companies and too many "ya can't do this" clauses in contracts.

Did'nt that get done already? There was an indoor karting event in Euroville somewhere with as many motorsport names as they could book called the "Masters" or something

Maybe I dreamt it....

Doesn't sound massively dissimilar to the Race of Champions thing that's on at Wembley this weekend....

I see that's on Eurosport 2200 on the 15th. Must remember to set the Sky+.

And Chris Hoy on his bike vs Hamilton in a Merc?

Superbike TT 6th June. Lets see what they're made of...

In the Bible, God made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights. That's a pretty good summer for us in Wales. That's a hosepipe ban waiting to happen. I was eight before I realised you could take a kagoule off.(Rhod Gilbert)
