    Default Venhill clutch cable

The original clutch cable for a suzuki drz400sm is £31 which I thought was too expensive. So I went with Venhill in the end (a British company) and gave them a chance. The good news is the price - £13 + postage for the cable.

It is well made and looks like it will last as well as OEM. But, there were some design differences that made it more awkward to fit (IMO). The long adjuster up near the clutch lever is in a different place, which meant I had to remove the ignition switch in to adjust it (when it was all fitted), then refit the switch.

Also, and this is the main gripe - the OEM has a rubber grommet at the engine end, to keep out water & crap. But the Venhill one is a different shape (larger) and cannot fit when the cable is mounted. So, potentially the venhill one will become more graunchy / dried out quicker. However, in practice the OEM one had worn up near the headstock, so it might not really matter in practice...

overall I would buy one again, as at half the price it is worth it. Here are two pics to try and illustrate the different rubber grommets.
