Seen some of that footage before but that is my all time favourite bike, with my childhood hero riding it.
I used to have a t shirt printed to look like Roberts leathers and a King Kenny Yamaha yellow black and white Speedblock cap as a kid.

And that noise brings the hairs on the back of my neck up

Nope, if it had lumps in the front like that one I would have just stayed in my bedroom all the time and played with them

No, it really was meant to look like his leathers from a few years later (about 1980 when the Transatlantic Trophies were on) and had sponsors patches printed on it with printed on stitching round them.

I remember it said Dainese on a sloping line down the back and fairly sure there was a printed on "Patch" that said Champion (as in sparkplugs).
Bit like this...

Somewhere at my mums house there's a picture of Kenny Roberts giving one of my older sisters a birthday kiss.

Great video, thanks for posting. I remember stories of Kenny when he first came to Europe to race. One of his first meetings was in the wet & "experts" said he stood no chance against the locals. No one told him that & he just slid the race bike sideways on his foot like in the clip all the way to the win.

Also IIRC it wasn't just the AMA (& Harley) that wanted the oval bike banned. Kenny was very active in the whole business.

Aye, nice to see one that actually shows the full lap.

Awesome to see the way he just taps on a bit of throttle to get the back stepping out, and then holds it all the way round. A lesser man would have been on his ass (or shoulder )

The guy is still a legend.
