I've ridden 3 of them. All of them were model years before they went to the weird exhaust on the side. 1 was bone stock and I thought it was good value. The other 2 had front suspension re-done and Penske shock and spring on the back with a slip on muffler, different bars, Ivan's jetting kit etc. The 2 that had all the alterations were like a completely different bike than the stock one. These 2 felt like they were machined out of one piece of billet as far as handling and the stock one felt mushy and moved around. The jetting and pipe really added to the throttle response. I still think they're the best bang for buck as far as streetbikes but I've allways been partial to Yamaha so I'm not the most objective person to ask |

1250 bandit is brilliant value, as is the SV1000......never ridden either or looked after one through an English winter, but Suzuki seem to produce exceptionally priced bikes. It could be down to low r&d costs or budget parts or a combination of both....I dont know first hand cos Suzi are the only Jap manufacturer who's bikes I havent owned in the 21st century.

| I likes my FZ1S, good riding position, very well finished, and pretty comfortable. It's lacking mid range though and the whilst the fuelling is not as bad as the journos make out it is less than perfect. The front's a bit vague if you add luggage or pillion as well, but adjusting the rear does help with that. I've never had a suzuki streetbike so can't comment. I've got a k6 gixxer thou, which broke down on me the first time I ever rode it. I do have to say though, as far as grunt and handling are concerned, it was a different league to the FZ1S.... You pays yer money, etc, etc... |

A friend owned the SV1000 and complained of cheese wheels. Both of his were bent. Not sure on the circumstances though. I know some people with V-Stroms and that 1000 engine seems to be reliable now. Sucksuki says they made over 300 changes to the engine since it first appeared in the TL series. The 650 SV engine is supposed to be bullet proof. The 2 FZ's that I rode had these jet kets in them. http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/carbs.htm |

Rode one...couldn't wait to get off it! Thought it felt gutless and uncomfortable tbh. There's a big reach to the bars, which makes your top half fairly comfy, then your legs are all folded up sportsbike stylee. Decent wind protection, that's about all I liked about it. I just didn't get it, it did nothing for me at all.

[IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Lacked Midrange ![]() ![]() ![]() Try using the throttle more. An awesome real world bike that ticks all boxes. Handles awesomely and goes like stink. There is I agree a fuel snatch but this can be rectified with a product called a FCE (Fuel cut off eliminator) for £149 which then gives it beautiful fuelling. I wished I still had mine. |

So for those that have owned them and sold them on, what did you chop them in for, and was there something about the bike that you didn't like or was it just a case of being tempted by other shiny new toys?

Love the bike now great engine but can be a proper handfull when it wants to be. It was fantastic at the TT this year over the mountain. [IMG] [/IMG]

Test rode fz1 fazer last week just after riding a superduke990,bottom end and mid range were awful in my opinion, but it was extremely fast when revving,i prefer grunt myself so i wasnt overly impressed. However it felt comfortable and very stable. The salesman told me the fz1 naked was tuned differently to the fazer and would suit my needs better but the demo bike was out.you need to try one for yourself.

Didn't like it at all, as said already the top half is all comfy and sensible and your legs are all cramped sportsbike style, it's like a mullet haircut in a bike ![]() It was fast tho with good weather protection, handling was ok too but it just didn't inspire in any way, as dull transport there is better out there. |
