It was fast tho with good weather protection, handling was ok too but it just didn't inspire in any way, as dull transport there is better out there.
How long did you keep it for CC?

It would be clean only this summers shit and to get to your house on my little RXS 100 would take forever so fuck it its only rain.

You should see it now it battered down on the way back from yours, the power rangers would have it down as a total loss.

I owned an FZ1 Fazer 1000 from new ( an 06 one) and covered 10.5k on it in a year. It was a bit snatchy at low speeds but no worse or better than a lot of other bikes IMO. I found it very comfortable TBH (I'd not have kept it very long if it wasn't) and the riding position was near perfect for me.

It's plenty fast enough if you keep it singing high up the rev range but if you want to stop playing and you just want to pootle along at a more sedate speed it seemed quite happy to me bimbling along at a leisurely pace. I wouldn't call it a slow bike, it seemed happy to me doing whatever!

They're not that great for strapping loads of kit on but I managed to tour on it albeit not two up (the other half thought the seat and peg position were comfy but would have prefered a top box as there's not a lot between the back of the pillion seat and "nothing"!).. The build quality was good and it still looked good after a full winters commute ( keep my bike's clean in the winter but not washed every day).

The tank range is not great but again no worse than a lot of bikes, about 110 until reserve playing and a little more if not. I'd be more than happy to own one again and having tried a new one with revised fueling and thinking it's an improvement I'm tempted.

It all just depends what you want from a bike?

I did 600miles on it, it got worse as the miles went up as it had no endearing features except the straight line speed and then only when high up in the rev range, it required too much changing gear for a litre bike too.
It was bland enough to be a day to day workhorse but the leg position for that is too sportsbike, for me it was not good enough to be an upright sportsbike and not comfy enough to be an upright bike. Shame as I quite liked how it looked and the idea behind it is perfect but not executed very well.
For me the 02 fazer 1000 I had was far far superior as a road bike and if in the market for this type I would now buy a low mileage one of them

I recently sold my R1200GS and brought a 07 FZ1S Fazer because I was missing the top end grunt that the boxer twin couldn't deliver. At 5'6" I find the riding position very comfy, I may change the bars for something slightly wider and swept back but thats just because I'm so used to the GS. I have just returned from a 2200 mile tour around France and the Pyrenees for which I fitted full hard luggage inc top box. The bike handled this extremely well but does suffer from to soft suspension in standard settings, comfy but does wollow a lot! Will get this sorted before I go away again in September. Good strong engine which had me endlessly going for another gear when in 6th so a gear indicator now a must for my shopping list. The biggest weakness in this package is the seat comfort after about 100 miles but a £1.99 air pillow sorted that. (Even a friend on the tour with a 1200GS and gel saddle said it was the worst £350 he had ever spent as he still got a sore backside after 100 or so miles and ended up also using the air cusion method.) Was normally getting about 140miles til reserve with a mixture of touring riding, towns, motorways & twisties etc. Excellent brakes which only required 1 or 2 finger braking even when fully loaded. All in all a very good all round bike with good build quality. For people to compare these bikes to sports bikes is pointless, if you want a sports bike then buy one and leave the big naked/half faired bikes to those who need some comfort with our power!

......
They are marketed as a naked sportsbike so why shouldn't those of us that want some comfort also have sportsbike handling ?
I now have a naked bike that is a match for any sportsbike in the twisties and if one non Japanese maker can achieve it why can't the Japanese instead of making all their naked style bikes with less power and soft suspension.

I've got its predecessor and have tested two of the new ones, neither were good enough to get me off my FZS.

They are good bikes, but they do not have the midrange they should, I found myself revving the two demos much higher in the rev range than I'd be working the FZS, they are rapid and handle well, but with a new back shock so does the FZS.

I don't agree with CC's comment about the leg room, but as I'm a 32" inside leg he may have longer legs than me.

If I'd not ridden the FZS, or a 1250 Bandit I'd probably buy one, as I have I'm keeping my FZS until I can afford a Triumph Triple

Ivanising is absolutely worthwhile if you can afford it, with the suspension mods mentioned they will handle like a dream.
