I don't plan on crashing, and if I do, it won't be massively different to having a car smash.

I am the bungee king - with about 20 bungees to my name.

I also use ROK straps and a non slip mat on the cylinder. To be fair I was converned about it sliding around at first, but it's been OK so far. I never push it though, and tend to stick to main roads and avoid potholes and bumps if possible.

SAS/Para Bergens are like rocking horse shit!

Moo - problem with Bergens is that the bigger it is, the bigger the temptation to fill it, and end up carrying an enourmous amount of shite you'll never use. 100 Litres is fucking massive, however, if you really want one, get yourself down to an army surplus shop and ask for a Berghaus Cyclops Crusader bergen - they're realy whoppers.

Alternatively, you can buy a surplus Army Bergen which is around 70 litres for about £30-40. You can also add zip on/off pouches to the sides to increase the capacity to around 100 litres - think a pair of them's about £15.

Why not try and borrow one and see you you can stand using it before splashing out?

The original ones are hard to come by..............unless of course you are a scumbag lowlife from a tankie regiment who manage to steal one from the back of a 4 tonner as happened to mine

We lost 4 as the tankies left the training camp while we were coming back in from the live ranges

Don't bother with a rucksack, just wear your dive kit. Keeps you warm and dry, and saves having to change when you get to the dive site.

They have allsorts of surplus kit like this laying around at the second hand market out here in Kuwait - so far I have paid equivalent of a fiver for a good condition Berghaus Cyclops Roc, and 3 quid for the US Marines bergan.

Am looking again tommorow to see what other bargains like that I can find.

Moo, google 'Bags Connection speedpack wide', suitable for the Blade
and 85ltr capacity. Not cheap at £225 but think of it as a limited edition
t-shirt with mates rates discount on top ;-)
