Default Motorbike insurance recommedations

Can we start a thread (maybe a sticky) with peoples recommendations for insurance companies/brokers with a bit of a profile of the person/bikes so people can pick a couple that match their profile and hopefully get a good quote. I'll go first

www.directchoice.co.uk, online quotes.

Undercut everything else ... #85.00 for my zed Cheap for hubby on the more litre-style bikes too. Couple of years ago they insured my brother, London address, aged 22 first bike cbr600rr brand new for 2k (TPFT). Which made me gasp but seeing as some wouldn't touch him or he was getting quotes of 3 - 4k shows how cheap they are. Very helpful too

Well... Avoid Bennetts like the plague. I'm not renewing with them.

I strongly recommend http://www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk/

Male 40+
Bike -95GSXR1100
Fully Comp
Rural area North East.
4yrs no claims.
£104.75 - Bennetts was £236.48.

Rang em about a multibike policy and added the 1982 -XJ650.
£121. for both bikes fully comp.

Very very impressed.

Will you keep a hold of the candle while I shave the chickens lip... Ta..

I'm going through the process of getting quotes at the moment. Carole Nash wanted £323 and offered to knock their £15 admin fee off when I asked why it was 10% more than last year and I had an extra year NCD.

Cheapest I've found so far:

Premium: £200 F/C (breakdown cover + £35)
Bike(s): '06 Triumph Rocket
Age: 44
NCD: 4 years
Claims: 1 (minor damage to car after reversing into a bollard)
Garaged in a semi-rural area.

This is from Churchill (of the irritating "Oh Yes" dog adverts). Posting because I don't think Churchill have been doing bike insurance that long (though I'll stand corrected) and it might be a new company for people to try.

I've used H&R for years and they've always been cheapest up to now. They wanted £315 to renew my policy with Equity Red Star. Bennetts quoted me £243 but eventually got it at £210 with http://www.cia-insurance.co.uk/ , oddly enough with Equity Red Star.

Male : ancient
Bike : 2006 Fireblade
Fully Comp
East Sussex, and apparently with a dodgy postcode !.
7yrs no claims.
£210 from cia insurance.

Motorcycle Direct

Female aged 40
2 yr no claims
Fully comp
600 Hornet 2006
S Wales
£149

Was originally with Carole Nash for the first year, who failed to explain to me that, as my previous bike was on a Classic bike policy, it would fail to accrue no-claims bonus! wtf!

Give Bikesure a go, they will match any valid quote and insure just about anything including trikes and quads. They also will offer any Almax owner an additional £25 discount regardless if you have already paid you premium or not.

I think with few exceptions, most insurance companies are the same. In the case of a total loss its just a matter of providing valuations demonstrating the bikes true value and attaching a letter stating you will not accept any less, period! This I have found in the past saved a lot of time in having offers thrown back and forth. It's seems standard for most insurance companies to offer less than the bikes true worth, but if you make it plain from the beginning you will not except any less, then they will more often than not concede first time round.

I might add, I have never had a bike stolen. I have had however, a bike torched through spite. These scrotes couldn't get my KMX125 so thought I shouldn’t have it either and promptly drizzled it with lighter fluid and tickled it with a match. Little shites!!!!!

The only comfort I got, was at least the little shites went away empty handed. Personally I would have preferred they went away handless or even better accidentally combusted themselves. Being a Christian of sorts, I would have assisted them, beating their flaming torso's out if I had time, using something at hand, like my trusty sledge hammer. With a nice long handle providing me with some protection from becoming a casualty myself.

But I'm not bitter, no not at all!
