Question Tyre Sizes

My Revere shonker has some rather antique Continental tyres fitted. They really should be allowed to die with dignity, and some fresher rubber put on the bike.

The sizes currently fitted:
Front 110/80x17
Rear 150/70x17

I happen to have a hardly used set of Pilot Road 2 tyres to hand, but they're in slightly different sizes:
Front 120/70x17
Rear 160/60x17

There looks to be enough clearance to accept the slightly wider tyres.

Is there any good reason why I shouldn't fit those sizes?

unles they foul anything... get em fitted, there "might" be a slight slowing in the steering dept but I seriously doubt someone of your vintage would be able to tell the difference..

Cool. Thanks all. Will get 'em slung on this week.

Now, to devise some form of stand so I can remove the wheels... There's no centre stand, and the mounting lugs for a centre stand are broken. I don't have a paddock stand for a single swinger...

Trolley jack and straps from rafters it is, then

Don't even need a jack. Just a strap on the LH bar, lever it over the side stand until the correct wheel is off the floor and tie the strap off to hold it there.
Once that one is done, do the other.
Job jobbed.

Trust me - 2 scissor jacks, one under each footrest, will ONLY work if they are NOT folding footrests. Don't ask me how I know this...

Sounds far too stable, and rather dependant on (a) having a stand and (b) that that stand could be remotely trusted to take the whole weight of the bike.
