Cheers folks, just ordered some Shure ones. Can't seem to get the EC range anymore, they're all SE's, so got the basic ones for now, see how they feel

My singing voice is bad. I'd rather have my music and not be able to hear myself singing

Hmmm. For iPod muzak on a bike, I'd rather just spend £15 on the Sonys (which also work like wedgey earplug things. )

Token bauble:

Bah humbug.

Sennheiser CX300s

Under £50.
Seal the ear so less ambient noise and much better music isolation
Still act as earplugs if you turn the music off.
Comfortable.
Efficient so better battery life
Clear and audible up to 100+ even in an Arai.

OK, it ain't a cheap option but I have what I think is the perfect solution. I have bought a Cardo Scala FM unit as I need access to my mobile phone while despatch riding. Then I got one of those cheap FM senders you can get from petrol stations for about £4.99 and tuned one of the 6 FM Scala channels to the sender. Plug that into your iPod/music player and you get your music played through the twin flat speakers velcroed into your helmet. The Scala cuts out the music when your phone rings and when you've finished talking it cuts back into the FM station you were listening to.

The noise sensitive microphone automatically adjusts the volume as well as a three/four position volume control. Almost waterproof except for torrential downpours and simple to attach.

You can continue to wear your earplugs as the speakers are flat and the unit lasts at least 8 hours on one charge.

Works perfectly although the tuner is a little temperamental and sometimes fails to find a clear signal

A metaphysical dichotomy has caused this unit to overload and shut down.
