Have you got the circuit board one? Nothing to do with speedos foxy but keep and eye on your alternator brushes. If they get to short they fry the diode board and regulator. Dont ask how I know this. I now have the combined R/R from Electrex fitted to the R80 does a nice job too. I find the speedo cable gets gummed up but a bit of 3-1 down the cable outer helps a lot.

"THINK" It's not illegal yet.

Fuel gauge is wwaaayyyy more accurate than anything on earlier BMs. Auto tyre-pressure monitoring is cool, too. Read the pressures as you ride; it even signals an alarm if the pressure drops quickly - not always noticeable on a motorway, for example.
Been keeping an eye on this recently as I've been riding the K a bit more now whilst Jenkins is borrowing my GS, and the fuel consumption and range functions are both well out all the time. Consumption by over 10% and the range function is worthless. Unless it's supposed to read in KM, in which case it's almost right.

My bicycle computer does:

Temperature
Altitude, current and accumulated
Trip (x2)
Total mileage
Speed, current, average and trip maximum

Plus a few more things and cost a lot less than the BM one.

One would suggest you have a wrong un then..(reading about them you are not alone) but after you started this thread I've watched mine like a hawk, and the fuel light pops on without fail at around the 40 miles to go mark... when I fill it I manage to get some 28-30 litres in meaning the 4l reserve is correct, and at 48mpg (computer) that too is about right 4L =40 miles give or take..sure I'd not like to take it right to the last mile..but on the whole it gives me a good indication of fuel status...
working the other way, If I reset my trip when filling, the range left+trip used is always around 350miles mark which again is about right!
the one time it's been way out, I'd been riding like a Cahoont and had fuel sloshing all around the tank and must have confused the feck out of it because it went from 90 miles to go back to 300 without any fuel being added... it sorted itself out fairly quickly tho !

Too much is NEVER enough...till it hurts...
