Akshirly I believe it has the RAC van in it so saves waiting after you make the call. Also doubles up as a flap as on planes for slowing down and for catching a tailwind for speeding up. In the event of a puncture it has a handy 100L compressor in it as well.
I do believe there is an external awning available for those camping weekends as well.

"THINK" It's not illegal yet.

LOL It is pretty vast! I put my usual weekend's worth of stuff in there to go away with and it was still only half full. A girl can never have too much 'stuff' carrying space

So, no comfort problems on a sport bike? You must be riding it properly is your problem. You won't have wrist pain to complain of if you keep that up.

It's not too bad! It has been a bit strange going from proper handle bars to clip-ons again, but after the last ride on her, I''m starting to get a feel for it again I do miss the big, comfy Multi in town.

That's another thing, the 848 must have the hottest rider's seat known to mankind My arse is absolutely burning after a short ride through town! Dunno who's stupid idea it was to put the Cat(s) in the end of the underseat pipes, they're so, so hot after a ride. Took it from my sisters to my Dad's house via Salcombe town centre when I was down there, in my jeans instead of putting leathers on...never again, that could have been nasty!

Apart from that and not looking as lovely as the 1098R I've had to peel myself away from this afternoon, she's perfect

How does it compare to the 996?
996 are going for relatively low money these days.

I have to fight the urge until I eventually resign to red.

Handling wise, it's a lot different. The 996 is reluctant to turn and feels heavy, but it's hugely stable and gives great feedback, where the 848 just wants to lean and lean and go faster all the time The 996 has a fantastic engine though, really nice and torquey and you can thrash the hell out of it. It was a great bike, really, really nice, the 848 is just a bit easier to hustle about, but it needs the crap revving out of it, where the 996 will chug on from whatever you want it too. If you like muscling a bike around and working hard at it, the 996 is really rewarding and you seem to go quick on it without realising. I find the 848 a lot easier to put it where I want it in the corners, but it's harder work keeping it spinning all the time.

I guess the 996 handles as you would expect a Ducati too. The 848 has a very Jap 600 feeling to it cornering wise, which is a good thing for me, being a weak and feeble girly and all

I've just spotted an 05, 999 with 4400 miles and a bunch of accessories on it in Washington state about 2 hours from here. Guy says he buggered his shoulder riding his dirt bike.....( sounds familiar). Asking $8500 US which is almost at par with the Canuck buck and I can import it.........hmmm.

For the heat problem try going to an automotive race spares supplier. The one near my house has stuff that's like tape that you wrap on header pipes to a variety of heat suppressing other crap. Just put it on top of the mufflers which aren't visible anyway, are they?
