Bars can be 'cut and shut' to make them less wide. I did this on my 1100GS - it helped a great deal.

That actually looks like the perfect design for me. Big V-twin, high riding position, but it also has a short wheelbase, and looks quite light weight. I don't think it is good looking though, the front end looks very weird to me.

I don't know if I would hand over money for a Moto Morini though. Small Italian manufacturers have a habit of going down rather suddenly.

But that is definately the design of bike I would be interested in.

I had a 950 Adventure for 3 years, with 17" road wheels and tyres. And a Touratech seat.

I thought it was an excellent bike. I had no problems with buffeting - indeed the screen was one of the best I've ever sat behind. Fuel economy was perfectly OK, usually over 40mpg.

It was of course the carbed version, so I can't comment on FI throttle response. Very agile in town, and one of the best touring bikes that I've ever had.

It was reliable, and not overly expensive to service.

My only criticism (apart from the uncomfortable OE seat) was the impossibility of using soft luggage or finding a discreet luggage rack, because of the position of the exhausts. And, the killer for me, the truly appalling dealer network. But if I could find a good local dealer, I'd have another, no problem.

I've just remembered another criticism. The battery is a right sod to get at.

How often do you need to get to the battery? Every bike I own the battery is difficult to get to, but it really doesn't bother me. I need to change it maybe once every 3 to 5 years.

How complicated was changing the wheels? Where did you get them from?

ONe option that has been missed is the Tiger.

Been running one for a few years now and it is superb great around town or out in the sticks.

IMO rides much better than the GS and although my experience is the KTM is limited to a few rideouts its proably better in town.

Triple engine is lovely and its been ultra reliable. Tours well too.

The newer shape one with the 1050 is even sharper but a little less comfortable for me being a larger chap with a pillion on.

Try on eyou may be surprised
