Default Altberg sizing

After two years and two winter's worth of riding, I've noticed my trusty SMX boots are starting to show their age. They'll get through the rest of the summer but they won't last another winter.

So, I've decided to try the Altbergs everyone raves about. Trouble is I can't be arsed to ride all the way oop norf to visit their factory. Soooo, I was wondering how do their sizes compare with normal sizes for boots and shoes. Ie: If I'm a size 10 in shoes and boots normally, will I be a size 10 in Altbergs?

Give them a call for the best advice. Don't email they had (have?) a habit of ignoring them when busy!

(But I'm size 9 and their off the shelf size 9 fits me fine.)

My Altberg Albion nines seem to be a very typical 9 too.

Does anybody have the Altberg Bandog Lite Boot? Just wondering, as I am looking for an all year round boot, that wont get too hot in Summer, will cope with winter downpours on the commute and also with 3-4 hours cold on dry winter rides. I also want a boot I can quite happily walk around in without it disintegrating like me current Sidis.

Another option on there is the Altberg Hogg Microlite, which looks similar.

I've got the All-weather Hoggs that don't get 'too hot' in summer.

If I ever need to replace them I'll probably get the Bandog.

I've got the regular Bandogs, they never get too hot in summer, are completely waterproof (after 5 years) and are generally pretty fucking excellent in every way.

Size 9 is size 9.

Their size 13.5 fits me perfectly. Very pleased with them and they were off the shelf too. I take a 13 or 14 size dependant on make.

Well have nowe ordered the Bandog Lite, out of the not so tall bike/walking boots it is the only one that is three season. I spoke to a very charming young lady on the telephone , listed my requirements and the style of boot I wanted, and that is the one she recommended. Asked to order it on the telephone, and she recommended going through the internet shop. The prices are still the old prices through the internet shop, so I got the boot at £119 as opposed to £169, those prices may change soon though.

And now the bad bit, quite appropriate that God is on the thread, as I am sure I remember a similar saga. The boots will be delivered approximately the middle of September

I'll let you know what they are like in a few months then

Absolutely normal. They make boots to order and they are made by hand in Yorkshire - not by the 1,000s by children in Pakistan - and thus you need to have patience.

But they are worth the wait.

Indeed. I waited, as only the immortal can, but eventually, my boots did arrive and, verily, they were good.

Mmm, okay. I was going to order Clubmans because I'm not a fan of lace up boots on motorbikes.

Anyone got any experience/thoughts of these?

Not really a complaint, as I was prepared for it when ordering, at least they were honest, guess their reputation is spreading. At least I will have them before winter, I'll just have to hope I dont get rained on too much on my Summer touring, the Sidi's soles are already coming away, and the front of one is almost holed-only a year old.

I think Hairy Ben has these.

(or if he doesn't, he is probably thinking about buying some)
