LOL

Have to admit that I'm not getting on with them as well as I'd hoped - but then I did guess at the sizing and didn't get them fitted properly (my fault, not the boots).

Have to say that I'm tempted by a pair of the lace-up, walking style boots - because I think I'd find them more comfy, and more useful.

They arrived!!!!

Delivered safely to work as promised, am now jumping around the office with them. As for the sizing issue, campared to a Doc Martin size 10, they are very slightly longer, but slightly narrower, i.e. half bike boot, half walking boot.

Very pleased so far, very sturdy buggers, and difficult to get off an on (why did shoe horns go out of fashion?), but once they are, they seem to fit fairly snuggly without pinching. I guess a full review will have to wait until about February once they've done some winter miles.

Oh dear, the realisation has struck this morning that the boots I've bought are slightly too short So when you are doing this sizing malarky, make sure you think of height when fitting with your textiles and leathers. The right hand boot is just about okay, but on the left hand side, with the more frequent movement up and down, it is probably about an inch too short, therefore there is no seal with my textiles. Which mean, if it is raining, wet feet, and even on a relatively warm morning like today, I was beginning to feel the cold.

Of course, with the waiting time I cant get another Altberg before winter, so I am going to have to get something else, waste money on that, along with the £130 I have already wasted Not a happy bunny this morning

How short are your trousers?

Why not just buy a pair of trousers that fit?

When stood up, they are plenty long enough, they just seem to ride up when I am sat down, particularly on the left hand side (probably as that leg is moving more with gear changes).

And that is exactly what the wife said, but as I pointed out to her, they cost about £200 (or more now - HG cruiser pants) and still have plenty of life in them, despite the patch in the knee.

What is annoying is that I didnt notice on Friday, as I could have sent them back, but it was a warm evening, and I didnt realise.

Does sound rather more like your trousers are too short, unless you need Altberg thigh boots?

Nope, more a case of buying the wrong boots - Bandog Lites. When I was looking at the size, and comparing them to walking boots, they seemed long enough, but I didnt take into account sitting on the bike, and how far trousers can ride up. When stood up, the HG pants come right down over my feet, they just ride up too far. Really annoying, I dont really have that much money to waste, what am I talking about, I have no money. What is even more annoying, is that I will now end up with conventional boots, and on my budget, and past experience, they will no doubt be a sweaty leaking heap within a year.

Nowt wrong with the boots, just with my choice of boot if that makes sense

The Bandog Lite which is a 'a lightweight - dual use - bike/walking boot' and at 15cm, the shortest motorcycle boot they do.

Alpine star SMX boots would be a good choice. Just make sure you get the goretex ones. About £120 I think (could be wrong). Mine are 2 years and probably 50k miles old and are still waterproof.

The only minor issues I have is that the plastic has now cracked on the lh side where the gear shift is, but after the use they've had, that's not too bad, and they squeak when I walk - but then I don't often try to sneak up on people, so that's not a major drama.

You are indeed wrong, the gortex ones are in excess of £200, which I am sure is reasonable, but just beyond my non-existent budget now.

Sorry to hear this, but at the risk of repeating what's been said,

It's standard practice to buy any bike trousers overly long isn't it? They always ride up on the bike and so you always need to get longer than you would normally buy for walking in.

I've got the 3 season Bandogs, now 5 years old, worn almost every one of those days and completely waterproof, not an ounce of Goretex in sight.

Oops, thanked you by accident.

£200! Clucking bell. Mine are going to be lasting a while longer then!
