Default Stock pipes... ban this filth.

Man, is it me or are bikes getting quieter? All this EU bollocks with exhausts has really ruined a good engine sound. I can understand some people not wanting to make a racket, but riding around on a sowing machine isn't my idea of fun.
Im currently suffering with a quiet bike until I have enough money for the super expensive Akro pipe alternative, yesterday I had to hang my head in shame as I was flanked by two pipe'd up Suzuki's at the lights who drowned my bike out with their real engine noise.

I run a Yosimura round race can which is just a little fatter than the connector pipe but badly needs repacking (it might even be empty)...so open pipes for me.

Aftermarket or a bit more fruity. A single or twin should should like one not muted to the point it sounds like a sewing machine.

I love the noise of bikes, but it would seriously piss the neighbours off if I had loud pipes.

Recently started to get a few holes in my pipes and it was getting seriously fucking loud. Bearing in mind I leave for work before seven each day and it was getting a tad embarrassing. In seven years of commuting into Manchester it was the first time I got any comments from the neighbours along the lines of 'heard you starting your bike up this morning', etc...

TBH, I am happy to be back to my quiet stealth mode, although I do like the noise myself, the last thing I want is any complaints.

I find that town riding is faster with stock cans because the noise doesn't attract so much attention. My bikes are piped-up as follows:

BMW R1100S
Horrible to ride with the cat in place so no cat = more noise straight off the bat even with stock cans.
Two Bothers (Lancaster bomber loud) or Laser (loud without baffles)

TL1000S
Yoshimura (ear bleeding loud)

Removable baffles are definitley the way forward, preferably electronically operated for comfort and convenience.

Anyone got a pair of TORS or Norman Hyde peashooters for sale? My bike sounds like a sewing machine.

(don't think they are much louder, just fruitier)

I'm a bit like that. My garage is at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and even with the standard can on, I get quite embarressed waiting for the RSV's cold light to go out . I do love the noise though

I dont think I could commute on it. Leaving early wouldn't be good for the neighbours. Lots of elderly people in my road and I dont want to be the subject of the nect neighbourhood watch meeting.

Took the baffles out of my Quil evo 2 cans, sounded much better very throaty with some nice poping when letting go but decided to put them back in... no need for unwanted attention of the police. They would know straight away that the baffles are missing as the screw hole is a give away. A bastard as it is the first time I hear an IL4 sound like it should bleh, why do chavs get away with ridiculously loud exhausts and we get done for getting a proper sound that is no were near as outrageously loud as the cars.

Loud cans are pointless, worthless and the toys of vain people that only ride bikes in order to get noticed..

Biking would be better for everyone if people stuck to road legal cans

No it wouldn't.
It wouldn't be better for those of us who enjoy the sound of loud cans, would it?

yes it would,..the balance you achieve from less public complaints, less police attention and an improved pubic image would more than make up for it..

You could record the old noise and play it back to yourself through headphones if it makes you happy..( either on the bike or in the study like a trainspotter)
