Do you always do everything you want without any consideration of others?

No, it wouldn't. I've never had a complaint, nor have I been pulled by the old bill....as a member of the public I am appalled by the image of silent motorcyclists bending over and pandering to the whims of the nanny state.

It's not vanity btw - you are so wrong there.

I always consider others in everything I do.
I'm not the only person in the world who loves the sound of an IL4 @ 8krpm on open pipes. - I like to oblige others that love that racket too.

I expect they might. Only how will they help?

Loud pipes on approaching bikes are pretty much inaudible from inside modern cars and SMIDSY's can be pretty much avoided by not riding like a blind twat anyway.

As long as its not because you believe it saves lives, it can be anything you want..either way it is probably the single most thing responsible for the perception that bikes are speeding through built up areas, and being able to do without it would extend the future of biking

I have a QuillT3 on the SpeedTriple, it's louder than stock (a decent fart is louder than stock) but still road legal.

TBH I find loud exhausts are a bit wearing after a while, I had a pair of race cans on my Firestorm and I fitted a set of baffles after a week.

I think I'm getting old

I see. You only consider the others who might also like what you do.

Don't have a go at me - it was Gedge who suggested that loud pipes might get you noticed, not me.

Wrong kind of noticed though..people sitting in their gardens moaning...or sad acts at bike meets commenting on the ear splitting racket that some power ranger feels the need to demonstrate..

meanwhile I would guess that the numbers of bikers smidsy'd whilst riding bikes with illegal cans shows no signs of declining

Or the people sitting in their gardens guessing whether it's a GSXR or a CBR and trying to guess exactly when Mr Loud Pipe is gonna roll off or change down for the roundabout - I play this game all the time.

There'll be many of us who appreciate the racket but we're not as vociferous as the whiners.
