As for the EU thingy.... I posted up 2 quick links that relate to the issue I made...Go back and you will see that I wasn't claiming the scenario as anything other than a futuristic possibility.. the EU bit was to show that there was a spectre of EU control over parts manufacture whatever the ultimate content of those links( and only posted in response to your claim that the EU would never agree any such thing...which as you can see from the exisiting bit of law mentioned it already exists to some degree).... as it was a purely imaginary scenario I feel no further need to justify my original comments.. Had you tried to understand the gist of my original comments then none of this would be necessary...but as usual you need to play schoolteacher and correct everyones every word....

Or rather since my point was that the eu (possibly) wouldn't allow restrictions, and your links tended to support that, you could have had the good grace to acknowledge that you had misunderstood the links and that I had a valid point. I can't remember the last time you did that. Quote:
See what I did there? It wasn't big or clever. I'll call you some names in my next post - you've baggsied 'pedant' so I'll have a think about it.

I felt no need to apologise as I cannot see how I was wrong, and for the sake of making a point about some possible future scenario I see no need to search further to back up a feeling..If the links I provided dont give you enough of a feel for what I was suggesting or you consider I was wrong in my interpretation of what I had read there and elsewhere then that is your problem...( I highlighted the bit that I felt supported my theory about an EU wide ban being a future possibility..that was all...) Maybe everyone else is sitting back watching you dig away, or maybe they too cannot see what the fuss was as they understood my original point..Now I am aware that I will have to prove everything I surmise about I will be sure in future to check every single link and every single fact before posting

Or are you just throwing another insult in my direction because it's easier than acknowledging that you are occasionally wrong? Quote:
As for 'the bit that I felt supported my theory about an EU wide ban being a future possibility' your link said the exact opposite, ie that the eu were discussing opening up the market. If you still don't realise that then I can at least understand your lack of acknowledgement. Never too late though. Quote:

| Quote: According to Harris they had also stopped making any systems for the ZX7R as the bike was no longer in production and if you go the Akrapovic web site the ZX7R is not listed. It still doesn't change the fact that the average busy body who complains about the noise of bikes would still be complaining even if all bikes were 100% road legal as it's the high revs they are really complaining about. | ||

Probably true ( and probably why Harleys etc get such an easy ride) but anything we can do to fool them into thinking we have all gone away can ( IMO in case Trogggy asks me to prove it) only be a good thing

On the plus side, I'd say people dislike the sound of peds with race cans more than IL4's I've tended to have race cans on my bikes, however with once exception they have never been that much louder than standard, just "fruitier" sounding if you know what I mean. The one exception was a cheap ART can on a ZXR400, which was loud but did sound wicked However it did come in handy with lemming pedestrians as I used to commute through York and on the way back I could cut straight through the centre as it ceased to pedestrianised. A quick blip of the throttle was far more effective than pipping the horn and didn't get people's backs up.On a related note, the society for the blind has raised concerns over electric hybrid vehicles as being dangerous to the blind as they can't hear them coming. So in some cases loud vehicles do save lives

This is TRC though and the laws of science have been rewritten. Sound is no longer omni directional.I like to hear abike and often enjoy the not so distant sound of someone wringing their bikes neck on the main A road near by. Of course I'd be pissed off if the rode up and down my street doing so, but thats a seperate issue. Before my neighbour retired he would start up his old Transit diesel and leave it to warm up and defrost on winter mornings. Early transits are not quiet when idling for 15 minutes at around 6 in the morning. I never said anything though as I wouldn't want to get into a cold van either, although i was never quite sure i'd have done that. But said person called over the fence to me when I had a K100Rs (standard exhaust) idling to warm the oil before draining it saying it was shaking their house.

I think a Transit van warming up at 6 am on a frosty morning sounds great, it's only the bloody whining nimbys who whinge about it and bollocks to them I don't care about them cos I'm a Transit driving king of the roads rebel type thing blah blah blah, ad infinitum

I drive a Prius and lots of pedestrians just don't "see" you when you're driving at low speed under battery power only It's so noticeably different that I had a few near misses when I first had the car. You really do have be extra aware of people stepping out in front of you.
