Default Ducati air cooled comparison - 696 vs 800

Anyone got back to back experience of the new 696 compared to the old 800 lump?

I'm guessing the 20kg weight improvement over the 800 and the improved power of the new engine makes the 696 faster point to point?

Default Re: Doocarti air cooled comparison

Rode a 696 yesterday and really liked it I haven't ridden an 800, but had a 900SS for a while. The engine feels more modern, very smooth, loves to rev and it handles a lot better than the older Monster's I've ridden. We had a top speed competition at Cadwell....I managed a best of 120mph just before braking for Park I think that's pretty decent for such a little bike.
