Honestly I never even noticed the sound over the bloody great rumbly engine on my 750.

I think that's a noise that the rider isn't in a position to notice (being above the engine). However, for people standing away from the bike and with stock pipes, the VFR has a very distinctive sewing-machine sound

Nice read Bonner..........ive just gone from old XJ600 inline 4 to a VFR 800 F. I find the power difference huge.....and gives me a big smile every time i ride it. With the VFR everything works nicely, does as its asked and when, and can still get the heart pounding............love it.
