![]() You'd be surprised how the weight adds up, I'm half way through aconversion and can feel the difference already. plywood lining and insulation, plywood wet room walls and door, toilet etc, kitchen units and appliances, fridge, gas bottles, inboard water tanks, slide out bed materials, other seating, beer compartment. That's just for starters.

| That's what's prompted me to say it....my 'rents are caravaners and I know their 4 berth 'van is ITRO 1800kg. Now a tranny van doesn't have all the running gear (well it does, but it's not part of the payload) and the total 'furnished' space is less, hence I think it would be much less than 1800kg to furnish a Transit.

| You're currently on a bike site, that one gives out specific info regarding Transits. There's masses of bike specific sites out there, not much information outside that specific bike but usually a shit load better than asking a group of random strangers in General Mayhem. I've found it pretty useful on times when the manuals not helped much. |

| aksherly Jedge owd bean.... the average van is around the 1200-1400kgs mark that all up MTPLM with gas bottles the lot in... mine is a heavy fooker at 1860kgs MTPLM and theres a few heavier but they have air con and big fook off fridges, fixed beds etc... Caravans are usually quite good at weight saving, the average van will be around the 1000Kgs are ex factory before all the equipment goes in ! and still leaves a payload of around 200kgs for clothes etc |

But when its needed you can weld 18/8 stainless to mild steel with a 24/12 (or thereabouts) rod.

So is the guys wife cheating on him? Are his kids in jail? Is he going to be running untaxed wine over from Bordeau? Why is this in general mayhem, what with no wankers and cunts and dodgy chavs involved? And where's the bloody gun compartment? The whole things a bit too nicely done for a pikey. ![]() He's an immigrant isn't he? Probably a Pole taking someones job. That's it, isn't it? Why we oughta..... ![]() Incredible work. Not many would have looked at the original van and thought, "Oh yeah, that should do nicely". |

The metal packing crates that new motorbikes come from Japan in should make a pretty good and lightweight frame for that sort of thing I imagine.

my old hymer (peugeot SEVAL based)was rated at 3850kg (upped from 3500), which after adding 2 adults and 100l of water gave a grand payload of............. 370kg add a 90kg scooter, 2.2kw genny, her shoes and that's your lot. hopefully he'll add airbags for the back axle and put a short ratio g/box in it because you really notice the weight on the hills edithe looks like he's into bikes as well |
