Drama program on the telly box at 9pm tonight. Whats the TRC collective thought on this? Seems to me to be in pretty poor taste to be honest, using a real person and situation like this for entertainment.

I agree, The thing that I find in poor taste is turning the whole thing into entertainment for the lynch mob types.

I suspect that the point of the show is not entertainment, but to show how barbaric the death penalty is - do we really want it here, or is it just something that people think they want?

Big brother, I'm a celebrity, x-factor etc etc. Are they poor taste or have they not just got to that line yet? Or is because of them that the line has moved?

Im pretty sure if the death penalty was re introduced it wouldn't cover child abuse.

It will be. When someone is found to have abused children in a new and horrible way the standard response will take over.

Problem with having the death penalty for things like that (rape included) is that the perp does the act then figures that they are going to die if they are ever caught anyway and kills the victim hoping to hide the evidence.

Means the victims more likely to be killed.
