Default Jewelery cleaners??

My wife wants a jewelery cleaner for christmas. Something to clean her wedding and engagement rings in. They use them in the jewelery shops, and comprise a tub of some liquid (de inosed water I guess) and then run unltrasonic waves through it?

The rings are platinum and diamond.

I found this: Ultrasonic Clean is it any good?

Does anyone knwo about these kinds of things?

If you want to be cheap then toothbrush and toothpaste is best but ultrasonic cleaners do work well but only on SOME jewelry stones. Some can be damaged.

They are fine, just make sure it's the right kind for which jewellry going in. Usually different chemicals for gold, silver and different gems.

Alternatively just go see what Goddard's products there are

SC Johnson ? A Family Company ? Goddard's® Gold & Platinum Jewellery Cleaning Liquid

SC Johnson ? A Family Company ? Goddard's® Silver Dip

They always work a treat

Oh and if it's for any silver, all you need is some fag ash and a soft cloth. Cover silver jewellry in fag ash, polish off with cloth - will get rid of tarnish without damaging the silver. Better than chemicals.

Sounds like she's getting ready to pawn them. Tell her to buy her own fucking cleaner.

Yes very good and very safe. I recently took my boss's wife's 115K diamond ring to be cleaned in Hatton Garden's and they used one of these machines - just like the one above. They're very good for very hard stones - diamonds and the like - but not for some other stones.

Thanks all. Do the various alternatives posted clean better than the ultrasonic jobbies?

The problem with brushing is that the engagement ring has lots of nooks and crannies which are difficult to get to, and dirt also gents underneath the solitaire diamond and makes it less sparkly.

Both rings are platinum and diamond. I've had them cleaned in a similar machine at Hatton Garden previously and they came up great. That's' why I am considering buying one.
