Osteomaelitis. The general consensus was that they'd have to remove my leg from the knee down. I was left only with a large scar.

Phew.

Had a blocked intestine after apendix surgery, went down to 6 1/2 stone before they went in again and sorted it out. Colostomy wasn't ruled out but wasn't needed. A year or two ago I had a bleed in the prostate/seminal vesicle system which was not a lot of fun and at my age could have indicated something malignant. Had all the tests and it eventually stopped on its own. And I am chronically insane which is quite serious really.

Being sent for a head scan in May was worrying for the >24 hours it took from being sent in to have it and then getting results, especially when (although I know it's not hereditary) I've had both an uncle and grandfather both die thanks to brain tumours.

Thankfully all was clear (although again it was at the hospital when my grandfather's tumour was missed first time of viewing the scans but I'm not thinking about that - very unlikely it would happen again to the same family surely?) but it's odd what goes through your head whilst waiting on results for something like that, and I do have a particularly active imagination.

Yeah I had untreatable cancer, just chop it out and hope. That was 7 years ago now and no signs of returning.

Then found out that quite a few people have had the same. Superficial spreading melanoma was what it's called.

Ditto. Well, ranging from months in traction to various permutations of amputations.

Fortunately the bone hadn't become infected, just the flesh to that point, and it was stopped in time.
