Default car(sorry)window wire snapped

My W reg Passat has a broken window wire. It's not the plastic clips at the bottom of the window as I've had the trim off & 'poked' about.....not easy either & so I do not want to make a habit of poking about in there...

The question is do I need to get a complete window regulator set up or can I get a window take up assembly.

I searched the web & cannot find a 'take up assembly'.

This is the regulator...
Genuine VW Passat Window Regulator winder kit on eBay, also, Volkswagen, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 16-Jun-08 16:10:35 BST)

The wire has snapped at the bottom right of the pic near the blue collar..

I can also get the same set up but without the backing sheet/plate...
I just cannot find the wire & spool kit alone.

Any help gratefully appreciated & will get a virtual pint & a big hug(non gay of course)

Thanks..
S

Sure its snapped, and not just come off one of the rollers?

I have to change one of these on a Z4 on saturday. From what I can gather it comes as a complete assembly and you can not buy the cables seperately.

If it's just the cable then surely you could just get a new cable made?

Nice thought foxy but I think it has to go around a main roller & the other wire does too.I could try but knowing me it'll bind or slip off days/months down the road after I've fitted it all back together...

I'd hoped to get the roller & wire set seperately...
