Default Convict Cichlids (tropical fish)

I've got a load of babies in my main tank, who are now being seen as chase prey by my Oscar, so i'm moving them out to a spare tank this weekend.

If anyone would like any of these babies, drop me a message! Collection only, from Harlow, Essex.

I would suggest having a read up on them. They are NOT community fish due to their aggressive nature... more aggressive than piranha, but they wont take your finger off. Possible tank mates would be plecs, oscar (once the babies are bigger and not bite sized) and perhaps other large hard fish. Convicts will take on anything regardless as to size!

Convicts will enter a tank and immediately decide its their territory! They can reach up to 6" in size (males, females a bit less) and to put into perspective, my young adults are about 3" and will fend off both the 14" plec and the 6" oscar that i have.

They are very interesting to watch. When a pair forms, they will take a cave or build one by digging through the gravel/sand, and will defend that cave. If they have babies, they will move them around and watch over them.

They are well known for 1. their parenting skills, 2. their aggression!

The babies are now around 20mm in size. They will require tropical tank conditions, however they are tough as old boots and can cope in abroad spectrum
temperature between 20-25c
ph not critical, between 7-8.2
sand or gravel substrate as they like digging
somewhere to hide - caves, rocks, flower pots that kinda thing
food - happy on tropical flakes at moment, but can go onto pellets when older. also happy with live food such as brine shrimp or bloodworms

i would rather give them to people who would like them, rather than give them to my local fish shop, who will re-sell them for £6 each!
