Default Can a classic really be worth 35K?

I have a Ebay search in on Vincents, more out of curiosity than anything else, and yes I'd love one, in a unrealistic sort of way. Now it seems more unrealistic than ever!!! But if you had £35K spare, would you buy one?

Sounds like a bargain. I'd expect twice that.

Yes I'd buy one, can't really lose money on them.

Screwd.

hmm - questionable, it all depends on what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Is the bike intrinsically worth that much? Probably not. Is there going to be some madman somewhere prepared to shell out that much, highly likely.

Not worth £35,000 in the sense that you're not getting much for your money, but if you're rich and want old bikes you'll buy it quite happily, I suppose.

Mate of mine has had a Vincent engine and a wideline featherbed frame (and all the requisite parts) in his bedroom for about thirty-six years. He is too lazy to build it and refuses to sell the bits.

a friend of mine is banking on it for an income when he can no longer work. He has a house, garage, workshop, lock up and loft full of such classics to sell in a few years time!

And a friend of mine had 3 Vincent twins in the 70s - one a rare Black Prince. He told me he'd sell them when they were worth £1,000 each. I laughed at him. And of course he did sell them.........

Rare for both of the reasons in that picture!

I note the bike didn't sell...

Good point about the Norvin at the back, although that's rather an ungainly-looking one.

I remember a journalist spending over £25k on the restoration of one about 20 years ago, just before the last credit crunch.
He was speculating on it.
They are one of the few bikes that attract speculators.
Leading up to that they were making £35k+.
Vincents are perceived as prestige bikes, they have a certain cachet and an associated price premium.

A family friend has a couple.

The vincent owners club now can supply enough 'new' parts to build one from scratch. They built an 07 reg one a while ago

If I had 35k it would go on paying off some of the mortgage.

This is the type of thing I covert

Not the over-restored stuff .....I didn't like that Norvin.

I also know a chap with a garage full of old stuff that his dad put aside when he was a bike dealer. He doesn't ride (cant) any of them but rubs his hands whilst thinking they'll be worth a mint

The last one I saw (Black shadow not Egli) that was almost affordable was here in Leeds about fifteen years ago £8.5K in a Wyldes on Roundhay Road....unrestored but original and MOT'd I was oggling Kawasakis at the time!

A Rotary engined BSA, if you ever see another one of these it will be in a museum, this one was taxed and MOT'd and trundling around the IoM during the Grand Prix this year.

I suppose if I saw one on IoM in 1990 it was he same one.

Remarkably similar to a Hercules/DKW.
