got a bike that is being built, i have no V5.
Process is
1. Dating certificate from VMCC
2. Insure
3. MOT (hence insure first)
4. DVLA Inspection
5. V5 issued with reg no.
No one wants to insure it - too complex for them I think - heavily modified machine, no registration, doesn't fit in their neat little box of risk parameters so are not interested.
anyone got a top tip?

I thought of them because they really didn't ask many questions at all when I insured a very nondescript Q-reg Triton, 3rd Party Fire & theft, years ago.

Re: Who will insure an unregistered vehicle?
Carole Nash insured my Guzzi but it was a complete bike, not a new build, but imported so lacking in a V5/reg number.
Your alternative is to get it trailered to and from the MOT station.

I think if you asked in the "UK Bike" TRC forum, more people in the know would see it.

That's true, but you've a better chance of getting it insured if it's successfully been through an MOT, as it implies you have a complete and roadworthy vehicle, not just a box of bits.

I dunno, boxes of bits don't crash.

Re: Who will insure an unregistered vehicle?
Isn't it the case that it's not road legal until it's passed and received the VIC, so you can't legally ride it to either the MoT or the DVLA inspection anyway. Besides without a registration you can't ride it anyway, can you?

I thought for things like this you are meant to be able to insure the bike based on its frame number until you get the registration sorted?
