Baby Angel, at the age of four, has been affected by death twice already with my Paternal Grandfather and Maternal (Step) Nana, having been very close to the former and been to the spreading of his ashes (she was only two), she came to my Nana's funeral last year.

She has been told, and understands, that they have gone to live with the angels and thanks to some wind chimes being near where my Grandfather was scattered (with his wife and one of his sons), my parents said to her that "Whenever you hear wind chimes, that's those who now live with the angels talking to you".

A pure coincidence meant us being near some wind chimes when my Nana was buried and she piped up that "Nana was already saying hello" (different cemetery completely)

A cheery child, she has informed my Mother, her Grandma, that she is "not to die until she (baby angel) is 16" - quite specific instructions which has amused my mother greatly Bargaining has also come along in the form of "When Monet (our cat) dies, and we have had three more cats then can we get a dog?"

The reason I write this is for the conversation baby angel and I had this morning on the way to school...she brought up my death. She told me that she wouldn't be able to see me again when I went to live with the angels (I didn't have the heart to correct her on my probable afterlife companions ).

She went on that she would miss me lots, but was happy because she knew she would always be able to talk to me and that she would always listen for the chimes because that would be Mummy talking to her.

The point at which I'm almost crying is when she said to me that "it would all be okay though because she loves me so much that she would never forget me"

People look to art for the grand truths, especially for things that they'd rather avoid, but really they should be looking at small children for these things. Beautiful.
